The building affected by the intervention, located in #Torino, piazza Carlo Alberto, 3, has different types of facades on its various elevations; the one on piazza Carlo Alberto has been recognized as having particular historical-architectural value under Law no. 1089 of June 1, with a Decree dated May 28, 1968, but the building as a whole is not listed. The building maintenance intervention was commissioned by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism - Regional Secretariat for Piedmont, and architect Corrado Serafini of the #CSA studio was tasked with the architectural design and Works Management. The recovery involved the more recent facades, built after 1945, with the following objectives:

the improvement of energy efficiency by achieving a reduction in heating and cooling costs, with the consequent optimization of internal comfort,

the removal of asbestos present in the lower panels of the window frames and the securing of that integrated into the frames of the internal elevations (not subject to refurbishment),

the use of environmental sustainability criteria,

limiting interference with the public and employees by keeping entrances and consultation spaces active, accessible, and usable, in different phases,

respect for the architectural image that characterizes the complex by identifying the most suitable technological solution that fits into the building context without modifying the proportions and modularity of the current facade.

Studio Cattivelli-Scai Tech, on behalf of the Contractor PALASER S.r.L., prepared the report on the verification of the correct dimensioning of the constituent elements of the facades, such as double-glazing units and aluminum profiles, and of the special connections to the floor slab.
